DDS Therapy is an Associate Member of the Fiji Wellness Coalition, a national network working to strengthen wellness efforts across the country. This month, the Coalition announced a new partnership with BSP Life, marking a significant step forward in prevention-focused health advocacy in Fiji.
About the Fiji Wellness Coalition
The Coalition was formed in 2025 through discussions led by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services’ National Wellness Centre. It brings together 14 civil society organisations and NGOs, along with five Associate Members, with a shared aim: reducing duplication, sharing resources, and making a bigger impact at community level.
With Counterstroke Fiji as Chair and the Fiji Cancer Society as Vice Chair, the Coalition meets monthly, both face-to-face and online, so members outside Suva and the main urban centres can take part too.
BSP Life’s involvement marks the Coalition’s first major private sector partnership, a sign that businesses across Fiji are increasingly recognising wellness as a national priority, not just a personal one.
The Numbers Behind the Urgency
The Fiji 2025 STEPS Survey, released in February 2026, paints a sobering picture. Chronic hypertension, high blood glucose, unmanaged stress, unhealthy lipid levels, sedentary lifestyles and substance overuse are all on the rise, and they are driving a surge in cardiovascular disease, stroke and diabetes.
Most concerning is who this is affecting. Fijians aged 40 to 60, the country’s most productive workforce, are increasingly bearing the brunt of these conditions. These are the years when people are raising families, building careers and supporting their communities, so losing health during this stage of life has ripple effects far beyond the individual.
Prevention Is the Only Cure
The Coalition’s message is one worth repeating: prevention is the only cure, and healthy choices are within everyone’s control. Small, consistent steps such as staying active, managing stress, eating well and getting enough rest can make a real difference to long-term health outcomes.
Working Together
Alongside organisations like Diabetes Fiji, Heart Heroes, and the Consumer Council of Fiji, DDS Therapy is glad to be part of a shared, coordinated effort to keep Fijians healthier for longer. It is encouraging to see prevention move further into the national conversation, with more organisations and now the private sector joining in.
